Police Shoot Students
Several people have injured when police shot at protesting university students at the University of PNG.
Port Moresby General Hospital CEO, Mr Grant Muddle, says there have been no deaths or critical university students at the hospital. All gunshot wound casualties have been stabilised and admitted at the hospital.

Media Council Condemns Attack
The Media Council of Papua New Guinea has condemned the assault of a journalist this morning by members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC).
National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) journalist Rose Amos was kicked and punched by two police officers at the scene of a confrontation this morning between protesting University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) students and the police.

O'Neill Should Talk to Students
History is repeating itself in Papua New Guinea. The reported killing of four students on Wednesday follows the death of three others at the hands of the police in similar circumstances in 2001. This latest event comes after more than a month of protests from students calling for the resignation of Peter O'Neill.

Unitech Returns to Normalcy
The situation at Lae University of Technology returned to normalcy after the Lae Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr and two of his officers went on campus unarmed and engaged in dialogue with the Senior Executive Management (SEM), Student Representative Council (SRC) and the leaders of the provincial groups assuring them that the police would not enter the campus unless called for by the administration on the understanding that students refrain from destroying public property on campus.

Shootings Highlight Aid Needs
PNG and Australian officials need to make more effort in increasing joint PNG-Australian police operations and Australia needs to insist that it will coordinate the distribution of funds given through aid programs to organizations and departments that are plagued with corruption. The concept of providing funding in an effort to cease corruption cannot be successful if the funds that are provided are directly put into the hands of those that are corrupt.

Somare Visits PMGH
The founding father of PNG, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare and his wife have visited the Port Moresby General Hospital bedside of a student wounded by a gunshot while recently filming events at the University of PNG (UPNG). Bahai's Launch New Website
The National Spiritual Assembly of Bahai's in PNG have launched a new website. The website represents the identity of the Bahai's in PNG, and the faith in general.

The Bahá'í Faith arrived in PNG in 1954. Exercise Koa Moana
The United States Naval Ship (USNS) Sacagawea will visit Port Moresby from June 17 to 24 as part of Exercise Koa Moana, a bilateral exchange between the U.S Marine Corps and the PNG Defence Force.

NRL Expands Program in PNG
GE and the National Rugby League have announced a partnership to expand the league's wellbeing program across Papua New Guinea schools. The NRL Wellbeing program aims to help students make the connections between physical activity, nutrition and mental wellness. Nearly 20,000 primary school students from Port Moresby, East New Britain and the Eastern Highlands province will benefit from the program and increased education.
