Warning: PNG web sites seem to come and go. The fact of life is that it costs money to host a web site and there is not much return on the outlay to most businesses in PNG.

If you do click on a link and use the services or even have some comments to make then please contact the people at the relevant web site and let them know so they at least know that someone has gained some value from their efforts. If you are so inclined then mention that you heard about them from this web site. -- The PNG Gossip Newsletter.

Festival of Pacific Arts

Solomon Islands is scheduled to hold the Festival of Pacific Arts in 2012 however it appears that the country is racing against time to prove that it can host the festival. The main problem stopping the event is financial. The government allocated funding on paper but in reality there is very little. Both PNG and Fiji are alternative venues if the Solomon's does not satisfy the Pacific Arts Council by next year.

Lissenung Island Resort

The people at Lissenung Island Resort -- http://lissenung.com -- are always conscious of any possible damage to the reef when they go out diving. They are forever discovering new locations to take tourists so they can see the wonderful sights that abound in waters around Kavieng. Drilling a permanent mooring in the coral is not as easy as it sounds even with the correct equipment but it is preferable to dragging an anchor along the reef.

PNG Corruption

Here is a good article about corruption in PNG by Nancy Sullivan -- http://giaman.com/pg/?2e2648

LNG Projects

The PNG government says it doesn't have the capacity to run two liquefied natural gas projects at the same time. PNG's first multibillion-dollar LNG project is being managed by ExxonMobil, who plan to pipe gas from the country's highlands to a processing facility northwest of the capital Port Moresby.

The PNG LNG Project proposes to develop gas fields in the Southern Highlands and Western Province of PNG and transport the gas via pipeline to an LNG facility near Port Moresby for shipment to markets overseas.
